Education

Education at Inclusive Canada Foundation is practical, community-based, and connected to real pathways. Through mentorship, leadership training, volunteer development, student engagement, career support, coaching, umpiring, and culturally responsive peer learning, we help newcomers, youth, students, and community volunteers build confidence and skills for life in Canada.

Program

Mentorship and Leadership Training

Our mentorship and leadership work helps young people and newcomers build confidence, communication skills, teamwork, responsibility, and community leadership. Past initiatives have included newcomer and youth-focused training delivered in collaboration with partners such as Sport for Life.

Program Officer and Program Assistant Training

Program Officers and Program Assistants are trained directly by the President and Directors. They gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, event delivery, program coordination, communications, sponsorship support, administration, community engagement, grant and program support, and leadership.

For many students and newcomers, this becomes a practical learning pathway into paid roles and future professional opportunities.

Program

Student Leadership and Career Support

Through the LMS Canadian University and College Cricket League and related programs, we support students with leadership experience, networking, informal career chats, mentoring, confidence-building, and campus and community engagement.

The league becomes more than sport. It becomes a platform for young people to build relationships, develop leadership, and find support during school and early career transitions.

Where appropriate, students may receive discounted or scholarship-supported access to finance and career-development resources.

Coaching and Umpiring Education

Coaches, mentors, and youth activity leaders are encouraged to follow safe, inclusive, and age-appropriate sport practices. Relevant resources may include Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Respect Group training such as Keeping Girls in Sport.

Umpires are trained through the Last Man Stands umpiring structure. Umpiring provides paid experience for many newcomers. For some participants, umpiring becomes a first Canadian work experience and a pathway toward league management and community leadership.

Umpiring as a pathway

For many newcomers, umpiring becomes a first paid Canadian work experience. Over time, some umpires and volunteers move into leadership roles such as League Manager, Program Officer, mentor, or community organizer.

Volunteer Certificates and Role Pathways

Program Assistants can receive volunteer certificates and practical experience. They are often the first people considered for future paid roles such as Program Officer, League Manager, umpire, event support, or other program delivery positions.

Workshops and Career Chats

The foundation runs workshops, speaker sessions, and career chats with community leaders, professionals, and mentors. These sessions help participants learn about career pathways, leadership, settlement, education, sport administration, and professional growth.

Culturally Specific Mentorship Through Teams

Many LMS teams naturally become mentorship spaces for newcomers because players share language, culture, region, family networks, or settlement experience. These teams help newcomers navigate life in Canada while staying connected to community, identity, and friendship.

Partner Connection

PICS and Newcomer Support

Through connections with PICS / Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society, participants can be connected with newcomer, settlement, employment, and community services where appropriate.
